Why did you start this channel? – (blog/tumblr, in my case) – Pretty much the same as everyone else, I love reading books, then talking about them, sharing my opinions and discovering so many wonderful fandoms!
What are some fun and unique things you can bring to Booktube? – Well, I always have fun making designs for readathon posters. I haven’t seen any booktube/book bloggers talk about audiobooks or graphic novels too much and I’m a big fan of those! So hopefully spread some love of listening to the community.
What are you most excited for about this new channel? – Mostly readathons! Book tags always sounded fun to me and maybe making some bookish buddies.
Why do you love reading? – To gain knowledge of worlds – real or magical. To enjoy a person’s journey and see how they grow.
What book or series got you into reading? – As cliche as it is true, the Harry Potter series. It introduced me to fantasy, the amazing voice of Jim Dale, and being a 5th grader reading 8th-grade level books, I felt like a boss! I remember when the last book came out, my request number at my local library was in the 17,000s. Every day I checked for a change and when I finally got it, I spend the entire day reading and I finished it. Literally, the entire day, I didn’t get up once!
What questions would you ask your favorite booktubers? – Well, my favorite youtubers are LittleBookOwl (Catriona), JessetheReader, and abookutopia. (Sasha) I don’t have any specific questions for each, maybe just their suggestions on how to budget your book-buying…
What challenges do you think starting a booktube channel will be the hardest to overcome? – Being consistent, definitely – or having nice friends that are the most patience of plums c: In general, with my other blog stuff I’m not that consistent and have way too many ideas, don’t know what to start with!
When did you start reading? – Growing up, I barely read any books, I was more into films and TV. It wasn’t until I went through my one year of grade 5 at a private school (I was about 11) and the system there was: every book has a certain amount of accelerated reader points and once you finished, you took a quiz to earn those points towards your library “grade”. At first, I presumably thought I could just take the quiz and make the right guesses without reading because I thought it would take too long. (That school was hard to get through but that’s another story) Once I realized that wasn’t getting me anywhere, I finally picked a small book to fully sit down and read, that book was The Last Holiday Concert by Andrew Clements. I finally discovered the joy of reading, I couldn’t put the book down, it was so intriguing and hilarious (and yes I passed the quiz too) Then I discovered the world of audiobooks thanks to The Black Stallion by Walter Farley. With The Black Stallion, I got my first audiobook to read along with at my local library so I got my library card when I was 11, that counts as a Hogwarts letter right?
Where do you read? – Anywhere that’s comfy. Most of the time, the La-z-boy couch that I share with my little brother or the screen porch if the weather is nice.
What kind of books do you like to read? – fantasy with a little romance and an interesting world/magic system
~As always, stay positive and visit your local library~
